UMPIRES' PAYEMENT BEFORE THE MATCH

MCUA appointed umpires should be paid before the match.
A small number clubs have been reported by umpires for failing to pay travelling expenses before the match.
Rule 8.1.2 of the Playing Regulations (page 14 of the R & R Handbook 2012) is quite clear: 'Each umpire will receive travelling expenses, payable BEFORE the start of the match ..... the umpires are obliged to record the fact on their match report card and an automatic fine of £25 will be imposed.'
No fines have been levied for the handful of failures recorded to date but future failures will be dealt with in accordance with the rules.
