PROPOSALS FOR AN OVER 40’s LEAGUE – 2015

As discussed at the End of Season Meeting and as part of the L&DCC’s commitment to the LCB to increase participation and extend the provision of cricket in our League area it is proposed to introduce a cricket competition for the OVER 40’s players within our member and associate member clubs.

The current thinking is set out below:

8 Teams to be made up from geographical areas within the area covered by the Liverpool Competition area with a suggested draft structure as follows:

Wales: Colwyn Bay, Prestatyn, Northop Hall. (3)

Wirral: Caldy, Birkenhead Park, Birkenhead St Mary’s, Parkfield Liscard, New Brighton, Wallasey (6)

South Liverpool: Sefton Park, Liverpool, Old Xaverians, Wavertree, Alder (5)

North Liverpool: Bootle, Northern, Maghull, Hightown (4)

Sefton: Formby, Ainsdale, Southport and Birkdale, Fleetwood Hesketh (4)

West Lancs: Ormskirk, Burscough, Skelmersdale, Rainford. (4)

St Helens: St Helens Town, Rainhill, Sutton, Newton Le Willows (4)

Wigan: Wigan, Highfield, Orrell, Leigh, Spring View (5)

(Lytham to be included if they wish. Associate member clubs to be allocated to groups if they wish)

·         Teams to be arranged as franchises – ideally with one “managing club”

Format

·         T20 Cricket

·         Two groups of four – playing home and away (6 games) in a three month period from May to end of July.

·         Top two in each group to then play at a finals day in August.

·         Each franchise agrees dates with opposition.

·         Matches can be played at any ground within the franchise.

Other Points

·         No registrations required but players must be bona fide paid up members of a club within the franchise.

·         Games to be fixtured on Play Cricket  for results and tables

·         Umpires to be sourced from MCUA

A number of clubs have already registered interest. We now need to firm things up in order to be in a position to agree the structure by the time of the AGM on 13 January 2015 and then follow this up with fixtures etc.

Clubs are asked to confirm their interest using the contact us button on the website or emailing johnawilliams1@btinternet.com  from whom further information is available on 07767441978
