MEET YOUR LOCAL MP AND MORE PROTECTION FOR YOUR CLUB

Date: 18th April 2015

INITIATIVES FROM THE LEAGUE CRICKET CONFERENCE

Meet Your MP 2015

Clubs may recall that League Cricket Conference ran this project first in 2013, and those clubs that embraced it and received a visit from their MP found it extremely useful in building a good understanding and working relationship. About one third of all MP’s in England & Wales will change in May, so the Conferences feel that it would be useful once again to run the project. Over the last couple of years they have built up a good working relationship with the All Party Parliamentary Cricket Group, and hope to continue that relationship through into the new Parliament. Together with their partners within the National Cricket Conference, they are urging all clubs to get on board with this initiative, it can only be of benefit to them.

Attached is a pack including a draft invitation letter, and a feed-back form.  Management Committee distributes it to all clubs, and asks them to consider getting involved.

Lists of Assets of Community Value

This initiative is also being promoted through the League Cricket Conference and their partners at the National Cricket Conference, and is of particular value to those clubs that rent their ground or their pavilion. It can help to protect them if their landlord attempts to sell their ground from under them and perhaps build houses there. It was raised with the All Party Parliamentary Cricket Group and they also are supportive of this initiative. Collectively the Conferences are also looking to build a database of knowledge that will support clubs in the future.
