ITEMS FROM 3RD X1 END OF SEASON MEETING

Knockout Cups in 2016 – Information required from clubs

After a good debate in which it was clear that some clubs wished to revert back to a 40/45 over cup competition and other clubs were very happy with the 20/20 format it was agreed to run both formats of cup competitions for 3rd X1’s in 2016.  In response to clubs it was also agreed that clubs could enter whichever competitions they wished, both, one or none. Clubs MUST notify Eric Hadfield ridgeway19@supanet.comby no later than 21 December 2015 whether they wish to play in both, one (which one), or none.

Amendment to 3RD X1 Fixtures in 2016

There is an immediate change to the draft 3rd X1 fixtures handed out at the recent 3rd X1 end of season meeting. Liverpool 4th X1 have moved from Saturday cricket to Sundays meaning that Saturday 3rd X1 Division 1 now has a vacancy (two blank weekends for each team) and they have occupied the vacancy previously in Sunday 3rd X1 Division 1 South West (no blank weekends now).

Development Division in 2016

Clubs agreed to continue with the Development Division (no restrictions on players with Spirit of Cricket applying) and clubs are asked to notify us of their wish to play, on Sundays, in this Division of cricket. Please email Eric Hadfield ridgeway19@supanet.comby no later than 21 December.

ANNUAL DINNER – Late payers

There are a number of payments from Clubs still outstanding from the Annual Dinner held in October. Reminder letters have recently been sent out by the Treasurer and clubs are asked to sort this out as soon as possible. Any queries please contact Alan Bristow alanjbristow@gmail.com

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – 12 JANUARY 2016 – SOME PROPOSED RULE CHANGES

Papers for the AGM will be published and the details emailed to clubs shortly but we preview below some key proposals.

Clubs will see a number of proposed changes aimed at simplifying the player eligibility requirements for matches involving 2nd X1 and 3rd X1’s and below and relaxing the application of locked fixtures at these levels. There are no proposals to alter these regulations for 1st X1’s. As with all playing conditions in the Comp it is the clubs that will decide (not the Management Committee) and Clubs are asked to give careful consideration to the proposals.

Similarly, following on from the Get the Game On initiative, and feedback received from players during the 2015 season, there are proposals to bring forward the start time of Saturday fixtures to 12.00 for 1st X1’s and 13.00 for 2nd and 3rd X1’s and below. There are no proposals to alter the length of the game. We appreciate that there will be a number of views on this issue, but once again it is up to the clubs to decide.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE – ADOPTION OF ECB PREMIER LEAGUE REGULATIONS

The ECB now requires all ECB Premier Leagues to adopt the newly revised ECB Disciplinary Regulations in full and we will do so from the start of the 2016 season. In doing so we have the facility to retain and add on any local procedures reflecting our current practice. The complete new Regulations will be issued at the AGM.
