IMPORTANT - SATURDAY FIXTURING ARRANGEMENTS 2016

Date: 9th June 2016

Clubs will be aware of the consultation exercise conducted last winter which concluded that requests for special events will be accepted if possible.

As a result over 20 such requests were received covering ground unavailabilities and special events.  These generally concerned the need for first teams to be given away fixtures and if necessary the second teams' fixtures could then be rearranged.

The 2nd and 3rd XI published fixtures indicate where such requests have been accepted by 'TBA' following the fixture.  TBA is the abbreviation for 'To Be Agreed' and is intended to alert teams to a potential change.

It is essential that the home club making the request agrees the revised arrangements with the opposition well in advance of the scheduled date, whether this is for a new date or any other reason, e.g. an early start.  If a new date is planned both teams must agree it and submit it to the Fixtures Secretary for approval on the standard form (see Clause 9.3 of the Consitution).  If an earlier start is planned Clause 4.1.1.2 of the Playing Regulations requires 14 days notice to be given to the Fixtures Secretary.

A case has just arisen, the first instance in the 2nd XI fixtures where TBA appears, where the away team assumed that the match was cancelled and the home team had made no attempt to advise them that a major club function was being held on the evening of the match.  So, although the home team is required to contact the opposition, the away team must never assume the match is cancelled just because no contact has been made.
