Irish skipper takes the Cricket Path

Formby cricket club have today (Wednesday) announced the signing of Irish International batsman William Porterfield as their new player/coach for 2018. This comes comes hot on the heels of the news that Gary Keedy has taken up the same position at Southport and Birkdale.

Formby say they are delighted with the signing of Porterfield (33), disclosing that he moved into the area at the end of the season after leaving Warwickshire. The Irish captain has played 125 First class matches scoring 6171 runs as well as making 106 One Day appearances for Ireland scoring 3186 runs and playing in 56 T20 games scoring 1002 runs.

William is currently completing his Level 3 Coaching award and will work across the board at the club from U9 to the 1st X1.
