LAST MAN STANDS LAUNCHES IN ST HELENS

New game taking off in Comp area

A new Last Man Stands (LMS) franchise is starting in St Helens for 2014 to be hosted at Prescot and Odyssey CC and Rainhill CC.

The LCB have been working very hard in partnership with LMS and the ECB over the last 12 months to increase the profile of this fantastic wider form of recreational cricket in Lancashire, resulting in 4 new franchises opening across the county and our existing franchises growing at an incredible rate.

The St Helens League will be played throughout the summer on weekday evenings at both Prescot and Odyssey CC and Rainhill CC.  This T20 8 a-side league is fantastic way for amateur cricketers, whether they are current players, lapsed players or new players to enjoy a fast paced, competitive and social form of the game played locally to them.  As well as this, each player receives cricket statistics and world rankings online, which allows them to compare their performances with other last man stands cricketers from around the world at: www.lastmanstands.com.

Jasmine Titmuss, Clubs and Leagues Officer for the LCB, said: "This is a perfect opportunity to attract all parts of society to cricket.  It is a fantastic social wider form of the game which is accessible to all from existing players, lapsed players and people who may have never played cricket before. Not only does this offer a further bespoke playing programme within the community but it improves the profile, retention and recruitment of the game, not to mention the social aspect.  Adult Participation, player retention and player recruitment are areas that both the LCB and your local cricket clubs have been working hard on to improve and sustain, so offering LMS locally is a way that we can all achieve this.  Please get involved and enter a team into your local LMS league, you won’t regret it!’’

We are now looking for new teams and players for the 2014 season.  To enter your team into the St Helens League please go to: http://www.lastmanstands.com/playcricketsthelens.

Remember that the winners of each league progress into the North West Finals Day, with the winner of this progressing into the UK National Finals.  The winning UK National Finals team will then be rewarded with a £5000 travel voucher towards the World Championships which are held in Barbados in 2015.
