CALDY KNOCK OUT NORTHERN

Caldy knocked out holders Northern from the Ray Digman Knockout Trophy, Northern losing by three wickets against Second Division Caldy at Paton Field.

Caldy won the toss and asked Northern to bat who then were soon in trouble as they lost  both Stephen Lucas and Davy Smith for 15 . Wickets continued to fall and the ECB Premier Division side was reduced to 104-8 before Tom Sephton (15 not out ) and skipper James Cole (35 not out)  added 34 to the total at the finish of 138-8 after their 45 overs.  Brynley Richards took 3 for 14 for Caldy.

Haroon Khan's was the mainstay of the Caldy reply scoring 86 (3x4s, 7x6s) not out after they collapsed from 102-3 to 106-7. James Ashcroft (13 not out) steadied the ship adding 37 with Haroon to take Caldy over the line and give them their biggest victory since winning the Village Cup in successive years back in the 90s. Justin Snow took  3 for 17 and Tom Sephton 3 for 35.

CALDY                                  143 for 7  from 40.5 overs  (Haroon Khan 86 not out and Ashcroft 13 not out; Snow 3 for 17, Sephton 3 for 35)

NORTHERN                         138 for 8 from 45 overs  (J Cole 35 not out, Walling 16, Platten 15; Richards 3 for 14)

Caldy won by 3 wickets
