Med Imaging L&DCC to play SOUTHPORT and DISTRICT LEAGUE

Date: 31st July 2014

Match in aid of Aigburth CC's campaign to save their ground

The Med Imaging Liverpool and District Cricket Competition (L&DCC) have announced an additional and important fixture to take place this season on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August.

In support of Aigburth Cricket Club’s campaign to challenge and prevent eviction from their ground a Representative Match is to be played between the L&DCC and Aigburth’s own current league, the Southport and District Amateur Cricket League (SDACL).

The game is to be hosted by Sefton Park Cricket Club and will feature a Liverpool Competition team drawn from players from Division 2 as well as being captained by Sefton Park skipper Richie Forsyth. A collection will be taken at the game together with a raffle and an auction to help the fighting fund necessary for Aigburth to launch their challenge.

The SDACL has feeder league status to the Liverpool Competition, an ECB Premier League and the idea for the game came out of one of the regular meetings between the two leagues, both of which are keen to help a local cricket club at a time such as this.

Gordon Halsall SDACL Secretary said “It just seems like a good idea and a great way to help the club. It’s also a great opportunity for some of the lads in our League to test themselves against the Comp lads and should be a great game of cricket”.

John Williams L&DCC Chairman said “We’ve still got a bit of arranging to do but with thanks to Sefton Park the game has now been set up. Hopefully it will help Aigburth Cricket Club in their campaign as well as showcasing the talent that exists throughout all divisions in our League”.
