MASSIVE WEEKEND FOR ORMSKIRK

Premier League Title and Lancs KO up for grabs

An L&DCC exclusive from Our Correspondent

Weekends don’t come any bigger than this for Ormskirk when they host Lytham on Saturday in the Med Imaging L&DCC Premier Division and then play Norden in the Lancashire KO Final on Sunday.  A win against 3rd placed Lytham would secure the Premier Division Title and return the John Tristram Trophy to Brook Lane for the fourth time this century.

For a club that has enjoyed a good deal of recent success ,including a “magnificent seven weekend” just three weeks ago when the seven sides put out by the club all won, there has been a high level of anticipation around Brook Lane all this week.

Skipper Ian Robinson reports that the overwhelming feeling is one of excitement for both games but is confident that as each game arrives his side will be fully focussed on the job. “It’s what you are in the game for” he said. “This is a massive weekend for which we have all worked hard since April”.

Unsurprisingly Robinson “will take each game one at a time” and considers Lytham to be “difficult opponents and a side in good form”. When considering the Lancs KO final on Sunday Robinson is simply pleased for his side to reach the final and hopes that they all enjoy it. “It’s the biggest club final in the County” he said “There will be a few watching and it’s just great to be involved in such an occasion. We are confident in our own ability and hope to perform to our best”.

The team news for the weekend is that Simon Kerrigan plays on Saturday although Gavin Griffiths remains injured and with Andy Baybutt on Great Britain Roller Hockey duty, Jonny Glayzer steps in. Jamie Barnes replaces the ineligible Kerrigan on Sunday.
