BOOTLE, LEIGH and SEFTON PARK progress in Ray Digman as ORMSKIRK top Premier Division

Tight at the top in Division 1 with St Helens 4 from 4 in Division 2.

Ormskirk go top of the PREMIER DIVISION with an 18 run win over Lytham in a low scoring affair. Gavin Griffiths continued his good early season form with a top score of 31 and 4 for 28. Northern are in second spot after a finely judged 12 run victory over Wallasey with the ever reliable Tom Sephton taking 5 for 78. New Brighton chased down Leigh's 221 for 4 with five players all passing the twenty mark and Rainford passed exactly the same score posted by Birkenhead Park. Opener Matt Bailey's 78 helped Rainford to a three wicket win. Elliott Ketteringham's superb 131 before being run out took Formby to 250 for 8 declared but the Cricket Path men were thwarted by Bootle's last pair as the game ended in a draw.It was a similar story at Rainhill where Colwyn Bay and the hosts fought out a draw.

It's tight at the top of DIVISION 1 with Wigan's six wicket win at Ainsdale, featuring 104 from John Richardson and 6 for 59 from Ryan Parry, putting them in the mix with Burscough and Highfield. Burscough (Brendan Domigan 103no) drew with Prestatyn (Gareth Boughey 99) and Highfield beat local rivals Orrell by 59 runs.Furqan Shafiq starred for Newton Le Willows ( 74 and 4 wickets) in their five wicket win at Northop Hall and Maghull had a two wicket win over Sefton Park with Jack Wrigglesworth nipping in wiith 4 for 5.

St Helens stay top of DIVISION 2 with a 70 run win against Parkfield Liscard and Old Xaverians move into second place with a two wicket win over Alder. Elsewhere there were wins for Slkelmersdale, Spring View, Wavertree and Southport Trinity.
