GEORGE and ELLIE ARE LANCASHIRE JUNIOR PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

John and Myra Isterling receive special recognition award.

Two of the Liverpool Competition’s brightest young stars scooped the top two awards at the Lancashire Cricket Board Development of Excellence evening on Monday. Ormskirk’s George Lavelle was named the Cedric Rhodes Boys Player of the Season and Rainford’s Ellie Threlkeld, picked up the Cedric Rhodes Girls Player of the Season.

George, aged 16, who won this award last year, has performed consistently to a high level all season scoring three centuries, claiming 28 victims and represented the ECB North of England at Under 17s level.

Ellie, aged 17, has a Lancashire Thunder contract in the Kia Super League, scored 350 runs at an average of 58 for the County U17’s and is a member of the England Women’s Senior Academy.  

John and Myra Isterling from Northop Hall were honoured for their lengthy and outstanding service to the Lancashire Schools Cricket Association and junior criicket in Lancashire.

 Bobby Denning, LCB’s Managing Director, said: “We continue to pride ourselves on producing home grown talent linking our pathways into Lancashire County Cricket Club and this evening was about celebrating this. Special mention must go to John and Myra Isterling for their significant contribution to the LSCA and LCB, scoring and umpiring on our age group programmes for over 20 years.”

Stephen Titchard, LCB’s Performance Manager, said: “I congratulate all the players that have represented LCB County Age Groups this year. These are the best players currently in their age groups and we expect that some of them will go on to represent Lancashire at the senior level”

Jennifer Barden, LCB’s Women & Girls Cricket Development Officer, added: “Once again this is a great showing from the female players in the County. It’s an exciting time to be involved with women and girls cricket in Lancashire”.
