S&B to host District U15 Final on Tuesday 26 September

After two unsuccessful attempts to play the Lancashire U15 District final at Blackpool in the last two weeks, Sefton and Bury District U15’s have been given an opportunity to have a third go by Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club.

Answering a call on Twitter, S&B are to host the game on Tuesday 26 September (starting at 11am) when the two Districts will compete for the Ainsworth Trophy, a piece of Silverware and a contest which goes back to the formation of the Lancashire Schools Cricket Association in 1922.

The LSCA remain responsible for managing the District Competitions at U11, U13 and U15, in partnership with the LCB and their Secretary John Williams is delighted at the offer from the Southport club. “We have had some dreadful end of season weather but as these teams have battled through group games, quarter-finals and semi-finals they deserve a chance to play for the trophy. We are very grateful to S&B for stepping in. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain.”

The Sefton squad, coached by Andy Barlow, features players all from the Liverpool Competition.

Jackson Darkes-Sutcliffe (C), David Jump, George Scanlan, Joe Stuart (Formby)

Oliver Green, Patrick Dutton, Callum Scott, Sam Regan, Oliver Kelly, Tobias Lea (S&B)

Charlie Allen (Ainsdale)

Jamie Siddall (Bootle)

Callum Snaylam, Oliver Meadows, George Hopwood (Northern)

Joshua Garside (Maghull)
