AINSDALE'S FLOODLIT TOURNAMENT

Well over a fortnight of t20 cricket under lights involving eight clubs in the Med Imaging Liverpool Competition begins on Sunday when Ainsdale’s floodlit tournament begins.

In addition to a series of junior competitions, the tournament will see a short-form game between two of the eight clubs each evening. The host club will play Formby on Sunday in a Group One match at 6.30, which will be the regular starting time for the games.

Group One also includes Northern and Rainhill while Group Two comprises Rainford, Fleetwood Hesketh, St Helens Town and Southport and Birkdale.

As has become the norm in t20 games white cricket balls will be used and coloured clothing worn. The one quite timeless feature, however, will be Norman Owers, who has been let loose on the barbeque.

The top two clubs in each group will go forward to the semi-finals, and the final will be held on September 5th.
