NOMINATIONS FOR REGIONAL CRICKET THIS WINTER

"Dear Club Contacts,

I hope the 2018 season has gone well and you are having a well-earned rest or planning for winter training!

As you will no doubt be aware there are Girl’s Club teams forming across the county, and we have a strong County Programme from U11 through to U17’s filtering into the Senior Women’s Squads.

As the game grows we as a County are currently in a strong place based on the number of girls playing the game, but we need to ensure the game continues to grow at all levels and that we can provide the right level of competition for the players throughout the player pathway.

To enable Lancashire to continue to develop the game we are introducing ‘Regional Cricket’ this Winter via a programme that aims to give girls the opportunity to play with/against and provide a Talent ID opportunity, as well as encouraging more girls to continue to play the game even if they are not successful in reaching County standard.

There will be 4 x Teams (North, South, East and West) playing at 2 Age Groups. The actually age groups are yet to be decided and will be dictated and determined based on need. These players will be supported through the winter months with an 8-Week training programme followed by a Summer Competition.

Timeline:

October/November - Player Nominations

November - Players contacted & invited to observation session

December/January - 8 weeks of winter training

Feb/Mar/Apr - County & Club Training

May - Competition 1

July - Competition 2

September - Competition 3

We want to ensure every girl who is playing cricket at club level has the opportunity to be observed for this programme, therefore please nominate all female players who are U16. We will then make a decision which age groups best fits, and which players are ready for this programme.

Note

Players who have been selected for the County ‘Winter Training’ Squads will automatically be involved in these sessions. Players who are part of the Thunder RDC won’t take part.

Can you let the players parents know they have been nominated, and should expect to receive an email from myself inviting them to a session?
