PRAISE FOR ALL CLUBS and WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.

Date: 30th September 2020

Plan is to work towards AGM in January and take it from there.

Well that’s it. The 2020 League season came and went and all clubs, officials, players and supporters deserve a massive thank you and a pat on the back for delivering such a brilliant amount of cricket under such circumstances.

The ECB deserve much credit for producing an adaptive format of the game which met government and safety requirements enabling the League and all our clubs to enjoy eight weeks (and in some cases more) of competitive cricket. We also thank the Lancashire Cricket Foundation for providing constant communications enabling the season to run smoothly and thank all our umpires for their excellent support throughout the abridged season.

We also recognise the huge amount of Junior cricket undertaken by clubs everywhere in our League area, together with the Women’s and Girls cricket which seems to expand on a weekly basis, and thank all those involved in making this happen. (Junior Medals going out shortly) We also say “welcome back “to Colwyn Bay, Prestatyn and Northop Hall who have enjoyed a significant amount of cricket with their local clubs in North Wales, and also to Lytham after their sojourn into the Northern League.

Moving forward, as we must, despite the many uncertainties about the future and in particular what the landscape will be next April, we set out a simple plan of action to take the League from now to mid-January, i.e. the time of our Annual General Meeting.

This requires some slight changes to the timings of how and when we normally do things. Please also note that whilst learning some lessons from the recent experiences the Management Committee do not believe that it is appropriate to make any permanent major changes to playing rules whilst in the middle of a national pandemic. We stand ready to adapt as guided and advised, as this year by the ECB, to do whatever to get the game played.

13 0ctober – Date set for End of Season Meeting – Cancelled (End of season financial statements will be sent direct to Club Treasurers by Peter Fleetwood).

6 October – Above meeting replaced by Feedback Form to be sent to all Club Secretaries (with a request to obtain views of all captains) and also to be available through the League website for anyone with a view - on the recent eight weeks of cricket.

30 October – Final date for Feedback Returns

3 November -    3rd X1 SGM – Cancelled

20 November – Final date for proposals from clubs for the AGM

14 December – Publication of AGM Agenda

Tuesday 12 January 2021 – Proposed date of AGM – to be conducted by Zoom.

Please also note the above is our outline timescale of action. If there is a demand from clubs, officials or captains for greater discussion or just a general chat in groups, we will gladly arrange as many ZOOM sessions as are requested.

Stay Safe everyone
