JUNIOR CRICKET THRIVES DURING THE CURRENT TIMES

Roll Call of Winning Teams and full league tables

Many thanks and all credit to all those involved in delivering Junior Cricket in our clubs this summer. It seems that a huge amount of cricket has been played, both in organised leagues and in the significant amount of friendly and cross boundary games arranged during this period, with greater availability of youngsters in the school holidays. There seems to be a definite move towards playing the game rather than winning at all costs.

Competitive cricket is also crucially important however, particularly in developing and preparing young players for adult cricket, and we set out below the outcome of the nine junior leagues played in the Liverpool Competition Junior League whilst acknowledging the excellent work done in other junior leagues within our area, including the Wigan Junior League, the Wirral Junior League and the North East Wales and Eryri Junior Leagues.

14 Winners medals to teams in the Coastal and Mid Group teams will be posted out this week (additional ordered due to joint winners). Central Group already distributed.

In addition the Junior League saw a hugely successful series of Under 9 Sunday Morning Festivals organised into three groups with teams from Ainsdale, Fleetwood Hesketh, Southport Trinity, Southport and Birkdale, Firwood Bootle, Hightown St Marys, Northern, Rainford, Rainhill, Ormskirk, Liverpool, Old Xaverians, Wavertree Gold, Wavertree Maroon, and Widnes. With clubs taking it in turns to host sessions and some adding in midweek events, it appears that more Under 9 Cricket than ever before has been played in 2020.

We will be back in 2021, ready to adapt and do whatever it takes to ensure some form of Junior Cricket for youngsters in our League.

Thank you again to all those involved in Junior Cricket this year.
