Season gets underway.

 

SEVEN CENTURIES AND A HAT-TRICK BRING IN THE NEW SEASON

An opening day blessed with good weather saw seven centuries, a hat-trick and a handful of shock results as the Liverpool Competition got underway on Saturday.

The Centurions were Chris Riley 106 (Leigh), Sion Morris 109 no (Colwyn Bay), Fayaz Ughradar 115 (Lytham) Paul Ford 100 (Rainhill), Ian Robinson 136 (Ormskirk), Jake Leyland 124 no (Wigan) and Joe Noctor 112 no (Rainford) all helping their sides to wins, whilst Will Higginson was the hat-trick hero for Northop Hall against Prestatyn.

Three sides share the honours for beating higher division opposition with newcomers Spring  View making an immediate impact winning at Hightown by seven wickets; Liverpool defeated New Brighton by five wickets and Birkenhead St Mary’s won at Ainsdale by six wickets.

There were also wins for Premier Division sides Southport and Birkdale, Bootle, Maghull, Northern, Wallasey and Fleetwood Hesketh. Orrell had an excellent tussle with Skelmersdale winning with an over to spare.
