Lytham seamer returns ........

Marcus Sharp will make his long-awaited comeback from injury in Lytham's national knockout regional semi-final against Kendal on Sunday.

The experienced seamer was sidelined with a serious shoulder problem for much of last season but Church Road skipper Guy Roberts had no doubts about picking him for the game against the Northern League side.

"Marcus has been playing a few MCC matches, he's feeling alright and the ball is coming out okay" said Roberts. "It really wasn't a difficult decision to pick him for this game."

Sharp is joined by Michael Rigby in the side for Sunday's match. They replace Dom O'Brien, who is ineligible, and Will Hale, who is playing for Lancashire Colts.

On Saturday Lytham visit Leigh with Roberts admitting that despite his team's recent run of good form he is still not sure what his best eleven is.

"Everyone's hitting a bit of form and the team is gaining confidence," he said. "We had a good 25 point win against Maghull on Saturday and so we were particularly disappointed when the Bank Holiday game against Highfield was rained off.

"The form of our new opener Alex Davies has been a real bonus and the bowling has also improved recently. We're not letting teams get off to a flier as we were earlier in the season.

"As for myself I'm settling into the captaincy and getting used to all the little jobs I have to do. I was a bit surprised by the off-field commitment required but I have both my predecessor Antony Mulligan and Martin Hackett to help me if necessary. They're both on the field if I need advice during games too."
