Northern and Birkenhead Park win nailbiters to top Premier and First Divisions; Wavertree topple Sefton Park.

SUMMARY AND HIGHLIGHTS

PREMIER DIVISION

Northern stay top after a nail biting win at home to Wallasey. After posting just 118, Jack Woosey claimed the last two Wallasey wickets with the score on 115. Maghull kept up their challenge with an imposing 52 run win over Bootle and are on the same points as Ormskirk who had a comfortable 74 run win at Brook Lane against Highfield. Southport and Birkdale dismissed Champions Lytham for just 97 before Josh Hine (65 not out) helped carry them to a 10 wicket win. Fleetwood Hesketh defended 147 with Adnan Malik (8 for 30) bowling them to a 45 run win over Hightown.  Leigh had an excellent136 run win at New Brighton with skipper Mattie McKiernan taking four wickets after hitting 66 in the first half. http://ldcc.play-cricket.com/leagueTables/divisionTable.asp?id=1667&seasonid=26

FIRST DIVISION

Birkenhead Park won a thriller against Newton Le Willows by just two runs with Robbie Houghton starring with eight wickets. Rainhill could only muster 61 in reply to Ainsdale’s 101 and Liverpool suffered an eight wicket defeat by Rainford for whom John Dotters took seven wickets and Matt Bailey saw the visitors safely home with 56 not out.  Colwyn Bay followed up last week’s success with a four wicket win over Formby, Paul Jenkins taking 6 for 47. SECOND DIVISION

Wavertree gave Sefton Park their first defeat of the season winning by 43 runs. Caldy edged home at Alder by two wickets and Old Xaverians had a four wicket win against Sutton. Burscough had a good victory at Prestatyn thanks to 91 not out from Brendan Domigan and 70 from skipper Lee Berrie to set up a 101win.
