After the sort of weather we've been having which has made the winter seem even longer, I'm sure a lot of clubs are enjoying getting back into playing cricket, even if its only indoor nets at this stage.
For some clubs, junior development programmes will also be up and running. Its particularly pleasing to see that a number of juniors from LDCC clubs have been selected to participate in the LCB's "Emerging Players Programme".
Starting with the ladies first, Hayley Martinus from Orrell and Natalie Brown from Sutton are joined on the Programme by Sean Vandome (Sefton Park), Gavin Griffiths (Ormskirk), Oliver Jump (Highfield) and Matty McKiernan (Leigh). We know from Olivers experience, that this requires huge commitment from the individual and their parents.
Congratulations to all.

Lancashire Cricket Board Emerging Players Programme 2010
For 2010 Lancashire Cricket Board can confirm that the following list of players have accepted places on this years Emerging Players Programme (EPP) and become Level 3 in our Levels of Excellence Scheme.
The programme is targeted at the most promising boys (13-16 yrs) / girls (13-19 yrs) from our County age group squads offering them opportunity to develop and enhance their potential.
The Emerging Players Programme revolves around a player centred approach and considers how best we can support the development of the selected young players with elite performance potential on every step of the player pathway. EPP aims to underpin and support the LCCC Academy creating a link between County age group cricket and the LCCC Academy, providing an enhanced talented player pool with the appropriate knowledge and skills to progress to the LCCC Academy.
EPP will run in two phases, phase 1 being the preparation / skill development phase (Jan-Apr) when each player will attend two sessions per week. Tuesday evening gives the player an opportunity to develop their skill levels on more of an individual basis with their designated coach. Wednesday sessions focus on the strength and conditioning programme under the expert guidance of Alex Horn (LCCC Strength and Conditioning Coach / Nutritionist) and other related cricket specific skill work. The players will also attend their LCB County age group squad sessions.
Phase 2 is the performance phase (May-Sept) which will see the player continue to develop their individual skills but the focus will turn more towards match play and implementing the work from phase 1. The players will train on a weekly basis as a squad with ongoing individual support as required.
