BOWL OUT TRIUMPH for FORMBY to win the RAY DIGMAN.

Rain spoils the day after Ormskirk post a competitive total.

Formby emerged as winners of the 1st X1 Ray Digman Trophy on a day threatened all afternoon by the prospect of rain, which finally arrived to spoil what was building up to be a cracking game. After no further play was possible after 13 overs in the second innings with Formby on 89 for 1 ( Ollie Sutton 47 off 29 balls) chasing Ormskirk’s impressive total of 217 for 4 ( off 40) with Gary Knight top scoring with 81 not out, the game was decided by a bowl out.

Under the watchful eye of umpires John Farrell and Ian Laurence and with steadily falling rain, Ormskirk took an early lead when Scott Lees hit the stumps. This was equalled half way through by Formby’s David Atkinson and then followed by a series of misses until the very last ball of the allotted 20. Up stepped George Burrows to send the off stump flying and win the Ray Digman Trophy for Formby.
