Dear all,

We hope that you are remaining safe and well and that we are starting to answer some of your questions in relation to COVID-19. Our weekly update can be found below.

In line with the ECB’s recreational cricket statement, all forms of disability cricket are for now suspended. This includes all school, club and community-based activity. The recently launched Disability Cricket Champion Club initiative has also been suspended. All applications that have been received from clubs to date will be held centrally and reviewed at a suitable time when recreational cricket is set to return. At which time, all clubs that have applied will be contacted directly. No coaching kit or funding associated with this programme will be released at the current time.

We look forward to being able to relaunch the programme and, in the meantime, encourage all cricket clubs to consider how they can continue to engage with and support all those within their local community.

Loans and Grant Schemes

County Boards were taken through further details of the Emergency Loan Scheme and Return to Cricket Grant Scheme this week. Early next week, County Board staff will be provided with the required training for these funding programmes, and the ECB will be providing clubs and leagues with more information on how to apply during the next 10 days.

We are aware that during this period, buildings, pitches and sports clubs, whether temporarily closed or permanently unoccupied can be at greater risk from the likes of arson, antisocial behaviour such as vandalism or squatters, theft, and escape of water. ECB-appointed broker for recreational cricket, Howden have provided advice and solutions to manage this increased risk including advice on:

  • Protection against electrical fires.
  • Protection against escape of water losses.
  • Waste and combustible material management.
  • Letterbox protection

Please click here for further advice on these areas or visit Howden’s dedicated COVID-19 information hub here.

Remember, your property insurer may have specific guidance you need to follow, so Howden recommend you check with them to ensure you are appropriately covered. Howden are here to support you in any way we can, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with them here.

This week we wrote to all those who have signed up to All Stars Cricket 2020 to let them know that their All Stars kit is on its way to them! The packs will provide children with bats and balls to help them hone their cricket skills and remain physically active during this period. Within the pack is also an activity booklet in which All Stars will find games and activities that they can play alone, or with the rest of the family.

Please note that Dynamos children and parents will receive their personalised new-balance Dynamos t-shirt closer to programme start dates.

We are also continuing to explore more ways that we can bring cricket to homes across the country through indoor games, challenges, and digital content, and we look forward to sharing details with you soon.
