LOVE CRICKET * LOVE LANE * LOVE THE COMP

New League sponsor announced

At last, we are able to announce and welcome our new sponsor.

Just as we had almost finalised a new sponsorship arrangement with Liverpool based Love Lane Brewery, the Coronavirus pandemic broke. Whilst this is not the best time to launch a new sponsorship arrangement, Stephen Crawley, Founder and Chief Executive of Love Lane said, “Our original intention was, and still is, to create a strong local relationship supporting local cricket. Although there is currently no cricket, we are now delighted to confirm and announce our sponsorship of the Liverpool Competition”

Stephen, on Lancashire’s books in the early eighties, went on to play Minor Counties Cricket for Cheshire and was capped for Scotland, performing in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpar. Now able to combine his two great loves of Cricket and Beer, he says “We loved the idea of working with the Liverpool Competition. Our main area of focus is the Liverpool City Region and its wider area so the location of the league’s clubs fits very well. Cricket has been a big part of my life and I know how social the Comp is, having first played in it in 1978 with Oxton and it is a partnership opportunity we have had our eyes on for some time”.

He continues “The league has gone from strength to strength and we look forward to starting to work with the clubs during these difficult times and plan for 2021 when we hope to have everyone sampling a beer or a gin whilst watching games at their clubs. Love Lane and the Liverpool Competition go well together and we are excited to see it coming to fruition”.

One of just 30 ECB Premier Leagues in England, the League will now operate under the title Love Lane Liverpool Competition with the three year deal promising more than financial help.

“Steve’s enthusiasm and commitment is brilliant. We would have understood if things had changed” said John Williams, L&DCC Chairman, “but we are absolutely delighted with their wish to get started and carry on. It is important to maintain strong links with the League’s roots in Liverpool and the combination of a love for cricket, a love for the city and a love for good food and drink is a perfect fit. We look forward to a partnership which has plenty to offer for our clubs.”

The Love Lane Brewery has its home in an extensively renovated warehouse building in Liverpool’s Baltic Quarter. Opened in December 2017, Love Lane is proudly keeping Liverpool’s brewing heritage alive making craft beers and gins on-site. The adjacent venue and bar is currently closed but brewing and distilling has re-started to deal with the demand from Love Lane’s online shop.

Love Lane Brewing has currently refocused its business model due to the closure of its venue and all pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants that supplied its beers and gin. Currently operating as an online business selling Love Lane Pale Ale, Love Lane Lager and their range of ‘Dazzle 440ml cans’ Love Lane have also introduced Higsons at Home, which delivers mini casks across Liverpool and Wirral postcodes, every Friday. The online shop is www.lovelanebeer.com/shop-page/

From Steve to our clubs:

It would be fantastic if club members placed orders online.       www.lovelanebeer.com/shop-page/        Love Lane plans to create a code for each club and each order will accumulate points to accrue towards a discount off a range of our products for the 2021 season.

Love Lane will also offer a raffle prize with the choice of a bottle of gin / case of beer to each club to introduce the sponsorship and celebrate the start of our partnership. Club officials will be contacted by the Comp to organise
