COMP JUNIOR LEAGUE TO IMPLEMENT (most) ECB RECOMMENDED JUNIOR FORMATS

Agreement reached by clubs at Junior meeting.

LIVERPOOL COMPETITION SOUTHPORT DISTRICT JUNIOR LEAGUE 2019

Application of ECB Recommended Junior Formats

At the pre-season meeting of the clubs involved in the 2019 season of the LCSDJLeague

Ainsdale, Burscough, Bootle, Fleetwood Hesketh, Formby, Hightown St Marys, Ormskirk, Orrell, Rainford, Mawdesley, Skelmersdale, Southport and Birkdale. Southport Trinity.

The ECB Junior Cricket Format Recommendations were discussed with the following elements agreed. These will be incorporated into the 2019 Handbook, together with all club and playing regulations for each age group.

Pitch Lengths. Fully adopted as follows:U9 (soft ball) 15 yards; U11 (hard ball) 17yards; U13 19 yards; U15 22 yards; U15 (Girls only) 20 yards.

Numbers of playersPartially adopted.

U9 (soft ball)Flexible with up to 8 players per team batting in pairs (2/3 overs as agreed on the day) but only 6 players fielding at once, rotating on and off.  All bowling from one end.

This maximises the numbers of players involved in the game but ensures when fielding that players will see more action and be more included in the game.

U11 (Hard ball) 10 players per team, all batting in pairs (3 overs) but only 8 players fielding at once, rotating on and off. All bowling from one end.

Pairs format unanimously accepted as the most appropriate way of ensuring players at this age all get an equal opportunity to bat and bowl. 8 fielders should lead to players seeing more action and being more involved in the game.

U13 and U15 no change – 11 a side.

Boundaries Fully adopted- IN YARDS - as follows:

Recommended and accepted as maximum lengths subject to local ground factors.

U9 30 yards; U11 40 yards; U13 50 yards.

Other Changes

U13 and U15    Batters must now retire on scoring 50 runs, but may return to bat on the fall of the 9th wicket.

No other proposed changes to 2018 format. Full details in League Handbook. Fixtures to be published shortly.
