Scott raises over £9000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association

The Festive Season was somewhat different for Ormskirk Cricket Club Vice Captain Scott Lees. Instead of feasting and resting he set about raising awareness and much needed funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. His target was to raise a total of £777 in recognition of Rob Burrow the Rugby League Star and sufferer of MND who sported the number 7 on his shirt. Scott set about walking a marathon distance, starting on Boxing Day, for seven consecutive days and covering a distance of over 180 miles.

On New Year’s Day it all came good as he finished the final marathon stage to be greeted by family, team mates and friends at the Club and celebrate his monumental fundraising effort by surpassing his target ten times over with a staggering £8000+ raised for the Charity.

He was quick to acknowledge all who had supported him in his efforts. “I cannot thank enough those who joined me on different legs of the journey. Their support kept me going when the going got tough. The generosity of those who sponsored me was astounding and I am so proud to be associated with so many people who care for those who have to endure the dreadful condition that is MND.”
