A WORD FROM THE PRES ......

.....AT THE START OF THE SEASON!

The beech trees are shedding their winter foliage, a sure sign of spring and an imminent cricket season. It almost seems callous to be looking forward to cricket when we are surrounded by so many disasters. However cricket, like all sport is therapeutic and we are all in need of a fillip.

A party was recently held at Liverpool CC to celebrate the launch of a book about the Liverpool competition between 1958 and 1995. The authors being Sandy Tittershill and Nicko Williams. Many of the older chaps attending looked as though they had passed through Rider Haggard’s flame of eternal youth, some like me, perhaps a little singed. A wonderful event and so many old friendships renewed.

The book is a masterpiece, immaculately researched, written in an easy to read style and a treasure to those of a nostalgic nature. Well done Nicko and Sandy and thank you so much.
