3rd XI KNOCK-OUT COMPETITIONS 2016 & DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Two knock-out competitions for 3rd XIs will be run next season and it is hoped to continue with the Development Division..

Clubs were asked to advise which competitions they wished to enter in the bulletin posted on 22nd November. However it would appear from the response that the majority of clubs haven't read the bulletin fully. To date only seven clubs have replied.

The 40 over competition was proposed by clubs with 3rd XIs playing on Saturdays and all clubs with Saturday 3rd XIs will be automatically entered. Those clubs not wishing to enter must advise by the end of January 2016. Clubs with 3rd XIs playing on Sundays wishing to enter this competition must advise.

The t20 competition was generally preferred by clubs with 3rd XIs playing on Sundays and all clubs with Sunday 3rd XIs will be automatically entered. Those clubs not wishing to enter must similarly advise by the end of January 2016. Clubs with 3rd XIs only playing on Saturdays wishing to enter this competition must advise.

The draws for all cup competitions will be made at the first Cricket Committee meeting of 2016 in February, it is therefore essential that all entries for these 3rd XI competitions are known by the 31st January 2016.

Two of the six teams in the Development Division in 2015 have confirmed entry in 2016. Another of the six, Newton le Willows CC, has 'promoted' its Development team into 3rd XI Sunday Div 1 NE and we wish them every success. Matches are played without any playing regulations or eligibility rules, simply mutually agreed conditions between the two teams.. The aim is to provide experience and enjoyment for new players playing alongside more mature players. We need to hear from clubs interested in this initiative so that fixtures can be scheduled in time for inclusion in the 2016 Handbook. As for the KO competitions the deadline is January 31st 2016.
