Potential restrictions on 2nd and 3rd X1 Overseas Players

CAPTAIN’S MEETING Tuesday 26 March 7pm NOW A ZOOM MEETING

The date and time is the same but as the session will benefit ALL captains at all Senior levels including Women’s Hardball, it will now be on Zoom. The joining link will be sent to all Club Secretaries in the w/c 18 March for distribution to all their captains and any other interested parties. No need to book.

Highlighting Comp specific rules and regulations (player eligibility; points system; timings; rain rules etc.) MCUA input, as well as going over all their match day responsibilities - team card, result reporting etc. Other issues to be covered include behaviour and discipline (GCR), safeguarding, and this year will include a brief section on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

POTENTIAL PLAYING RESTRICTIONS ON OVERSEAS PLAYERS IN 2^nd and 3^rd X1s in 2024

Following on from previous notices to clubs about the difficulties in adequately recognising playing standards for overseas players being registered at this level and the need to ensure that such players are of an appropriate standard to take part at this level, the following procedure is to be adopted from the 2024 season:

Using player information on the play-cricket system:

A check will be made following the last game played in May, June, July and August.
If the player averages 25% or more of the team’s runs scored or wickets taken, then a restriction will be applied. This will continue for the remainder of the season.
The player will not be allowed to bat until 4 wickets have been taken (No 6) and/or will be limited to 8 overs bowling in a match.
There is no appeal.
