CHARLES (Charlie) MILLS - A TRIBUTE

Funeral Arrangements

The Liverpool Competition has been greatly saddened to hear of the recent passing of Charlie Mills, known to many in the League as a widely respected and welcoming host at Formby Cricket club, Charlie was a 2^nd X1 regular at the Cricket Path in the 1970’s. His lifelong career in Special Education, working with underprivileged and damaged children then took priority until the mid-90’s when son Tom discovered junior cricket.

Charlie, a trustee of Everton in the Community, then embraced the Formby Club with spells as Chairman and latterly President until 2020, introducing scholarships with New South Wales Cricket, and generally moving the club forward. A devoted family man he took huge pleasure when his grandson Louis was selected for the Comp’s U11 Representative team in 2023.

Described in a tribute from the club as “a wonderfully kind, generous man whose contribution to Formby CC will never be forgotten“ the League sends sincere condolences to all the family.

Charlie’s son Tom wishes to thank all those individuals and clubs sending messages to the family, far too many to answer individually, all of which have been of great support.

Charlie's Funeral will take place on Friday 17 November 12pm at SS Peter and Paul's in Crosby ( L23 5TE) followed by a reception at Formby Hall Golf Club.
