LIVERPOOL COMPETITION GIVES SUPPORT TO NEW MERSEYSIDE CRICKET MEDIA VENTURE

The Liverpool and District Cricket Competition is pleased to announce a sponsorship deal with Merseyside Cricket Online. The ECB Premier League is to support the locally based media enterprise run by Tom Evans, award winning cricket correspondent with the Liverpool Echo, through the 2024 season.

Merseyside Cricket Online was set up by Tom a short while ago, to provide strong, independent cricket news, views and analysis all across the Merseyside area, and occasionally beyond. It primarily focusses on the Liverpool Competition and its 36 Premier League Clubs, including those playing on the Wirral, in Wigan and North Wales, as well as the Southport and District Amateur League, and the Cheshire County and Cricket Leagues.

A quick look at the Merseyside Cricket Online website shows in depth articles on Tom Hartley (Ormskirk), Danny Hamm (New Brighton) and Jack Carney (Southport and Birkdale) all recently featuring in England teams.

League Chair Eddie Shiff explains that his Committee have recognised the positive impact that such a venture has had, and can have in the future, on cricket throughout the whole of the Merseyside area as well as the Liverpool Competition.

“Tom regularly produces excellent features and analysis on our teams and players as well as promoting much of the activity of our League. It seems very appropriate that we support him, particularly at a time when he is looking to develop and extend his coverage.“ commented Eddie. .

Evans, 43, said: “Since I started writing about the Comp in the Liverpool ECHO five years ago, everyone on the management committee has been a great help in terms of support, advice and encouragement”.

“Now I’m delighted that the committee has generously agreed to help support my work on Merseyside Cricket Online. It’s a privilege to cover one of the strongest leagues in the country, and I look forward to continuing to do so in the future.”
