LDCC YOUNGSTERS MAKING THEIR MARK FOR THE COUNTY

Young players from The Bridging Finance Solutions Liverpool & District Cricket Competition feature strongly in the Lancashire County Age Group squads (under 10 to 15) taking shape for 2012. In another indication of the continuing strength of clubs in the Competition 36 youngsters feature in the various squads embarking on a programme of fixtures against counties from all over England as well as teams from Barbados, South Africa, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Of particular note are the five LDCC boys chosen in the County under 10 squad competing at this age for the first time this year. The team starts their campaign on 27 June at Bootle against North East Wales followed by trips to Warwickshire and Staffordshire before taking on Yorkshire at Burscough on 17 July. The season finishes with a three day festival at Kings College, Taunton.

Liverpool Competition President Eric Hadfield congratulated all those selected to represent the County saying “It is wonderful to see that so many of our clubs are producing such talented youngsters and investing in the future. We have a lot of high quality cricketers throughout the league but there is no substitute for training your own coaches and developing your own players. I wish all the youngsters a happy and successful county season but above all I encourage them to enjoy every minute of the competitions”
