A NEW ERA FOR THE LIVERPOOL COMPETITION.
Date: 3rd November 2025
We welcome the Southport and District Amateur Cricket League to the Comp
Saturday 1 November 2025 now becomes a key date in the history and development of the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.
From that date we are now pleased to welcome the Southport and District Amateur Cricket League, founded in 1898, and since 2003 officially operating as our Feeder League, as a part of the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.
16 new clubs now join the 36 existing full member clubs and will play in the newly established Transition Divisions (T1 and T2) in 2026 and will play alongside five of our associate member clubs previously playing in our 3rd X1 Division Structure, Goodlass, Merseyside Sports and Cultural Club, South Liverpool, Liverpool Lions and Liverpool Superkings. Transition matches will continue under S+DACL playing rules and conditions for two years, following which, the clubs will then decide on future arrangements.
The Premier, Division 1 and Division 2 (1st XI and 2nd X1) Structure remains unchanged with the 3rd X1 Saturday Divisions continuing as now, with the loss of five clubs.
The Integration process, beginning in May 2024 was Constitutionally agreed unanimously at Special General Meetings of Liverpool Competition Clubs on16 October and by Southport and District Clubs on 21 October.
There is still much work to be done thriough the winter, including the setting up of a Transition Sub-Committee, as well as managing all financial issues and reconciling General and Constitutional Rules and Regulations.
All the clubs will join together for the first time at the Annual General Meeting to be held on 20 January 2026.
Henry Roberts, Chair of the Southport League, paid tribute to all the officials, clubs and players in his League’s proud history saying “ It has been a wonderful League to be a part of, but now is the right time for our League to move on. This secures the long term future for all our clubs. We all look forward to being part of such a well-regarded ECB Premier League.
Eddie Shiff ,Chair of the Liverpool Competition, welcomed the new clubs. “ We have worked closely with Henry and his Committee for some time now and I am delighted that our proposals have received such a massive approval from the clubs in both Leagues. I am also pleased that many of their officials will be joining us. There is plenty to do and we look forward to working together in the future”
