COMP ECB UMPIRES COURSE BRINGS SUCCESS

We are pleased to report on our successful ECB Umpires Course held at Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club on Saturday 28 February.
The course was arranged and delivered following recognition of the prospect of a shortage of League umpires and the now integrated Southport and District League (playing as L&DCC Transition Divisions) experiencing the same problem.
Significant co-operation from a range of cricket organisations made it possible: Comp Management, the ACO, the LCF, Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club and Tutors Malcolm Venn and Marianne Lea.
Thirteen individuals attended (including four from Tarleton and Dukinfield) and following initial feedback the Comp has, so far, six new umpires with an ACO Category of M6/W6 ready to stand in the L&DCC Transition Division 1 on 25 April. In time, the ACO Pathway will enable, if they wish, individuals to progress to the current L&DCC 1ST X1 Divisions.
