LIVERPOOL COMPETITION NEWS UPDATES    21 December

  • FIXTURES   As you will know, the ECB are not issuing the First Class County fixture list until January, and as such, we are not in a position to produce and issue our fixture list until at least then. We know that Lancashire County Cricket Club have approached a number of potential out ground venues including both Liverpool and Southport and Birkdale and we need to take account of any commitments that these clubs, together with Colwyn Bay in respect of Glamorgan, may ultimately have. Thank you for your patience.
  • The Season   In response to a number of requests we confirm that the season will start on Saturday 23 April and finish on Saturday 17 September.
  • Equality Diversity and Inclusion  Following up on information forwarded to clubs in November, together with the ECB’s Action Plan, we can confirm that two Awareness Sessions, on Zoom, have been arranged for the evenings of Tuesday 1 February and Wednesday 9 February for Club Officials. Input will be from experienced Local Authority and Cricket officers, together with individuals who have come forward from within our League with something to offer.
  • 2022 Player Development Programme  All Players from the Liverpool Competition and the Wigan Junior League who competed in the 2021 Lancashire Inter-League Competition have now been invited to take part in the fully funded Player Development Programme. Those who have accepted will now take part in a six week programme starting on 15 January and will soon receive exact details of their groups and timings.

We have exclusive use of St Bede’s, Ormskirk for 12 Saturday Afternoons up to 2 April. Three of these weeks are allocated for Women’s and Girls Coaching with Individuals to be notified by Paul Bate and Liz Sinker.

Initial Trials for Liverpool Competition Inter-League Teams at U11 13 15 and 18 are to be held on Saturday’s March 26 and 2 April from 1pm to 5pm (Details on how to nominate will be forwarded to Clubs in early February).

  • Women’s and Girls Thank you to all those clubs completing the W&G End of Season survey. We have returns from 21 clubs which is a fantastic effort. The information submitted has provided some key insights, and has helped to inform the planning of the 2022 W&G Competition Programme.

Details of the ECB/LCF affiliated Programme will be released in the first half of January. This will include specific information on the various League Competitions (including the Indoor Tournament in February/March), and how to register.

  • JuniorLeague  The Junior League is under new management. At the recent Junior League Representatives Meeting, John Williams was elected as the new Chair with Neil Crew continuing as Secretary, together with a committee of Andrew Mills, Peter Roots and Chris Nutton. Neil will be sending out a request for 2022 playing details (age groups, numbers of teams etc.) from Club Main Junior representatives in the next few days to enable formation of the Divisions and fixtures by early February.
  • Echo Cup  We are pleased to confirm that the Liverpool Competition is once again linking with the Liverpool Echo to organise the 2022 Echo Cup.  Details will be forwarded to clubs (including those Cheshire clubs previously taking part) towards the end of January.
