2022 PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - focused on Inter-league Cricket
Date: 7th December 2021
13th year sees most ambitious and comprehensive programme ever.
We are pleased to announce The Liverpool Competition Player Development Programme in 2022, now its 13th year. Specifically focused around Lancashire Inter-League cricket it represents our most ambitious and comprehensive programme to date.
64 players from the 2021 Liverpool Competition Inter-League intake and 47 players from Liverpool Competition Clubs in the Wigan Junior Inter-League Teams, are currently receiving invitations to join the programme from 15 January.
We have exclusive use of the St Bede’s (Ormskirk) Cricket Centre for 12 weeks on Saturday afternoons up to the beginning of April. Players in last years Under 11 squads will receive coaching in 6 x1 hour sessions, with players in all other age groups receiving 6 x 1.5 hours sessions, delivered by experienced Level 3 and Level 2 coaches.
The final two weeks, 26 March and 2 April are reserved for trials for the 2022 Inter League squads. Clubs will receive details for nominating players in the New Year.
The scheme is funded by the Liverpool Competition from the fines collected from clubs in 2021 together with an allocation from our own “Inspiring Generations” fund.
Women’s and Girls players have 3 x 4 hour afternoon coaching sessions available from February and clubs will receive full details of how these are to be allocated, from Liz Sinker and Paul Bate, in the near future.
Finally, players aspiring to represent the Liverpool Competition in the 2022 Inter League need to be aware that there is likely to be an Inter-League T20 Competition for the U13s and U15s in the May half term break (30 May to 3 June) as well as some development days for U11 squads; with the main competitions for U11 U13 and U15 taking place throughout the month of August. The U18 competition will be spread throughout the summer.
