NORTHERN WIN LCF KO FINAL 2023 AT OLD TRAFFORD..

.....beating the 2022 holders Longridge convincingly.

scorecard

Northern won the 2023 Lancashire Cricket Foundation Cup in style beating Longridge the 2022 holders.

Many at Old Trafford were surprised that Longridge won the toss and elected to field on a warm and sunny day. (The wicket being used was right in the centre of the square being the one used for the Test Matches……..)

In the first innings Chris Laker and Liam Grey scored an opening 116 from 26.5 overs before Chris was out for 54.

Tyler McGladdery then joined Liam and the pair added 113 in 14.3 overs before Tyler was bowled for an aggressively compiled 52. Liam Grey went on to a magnificent and unbeaten 118 from exactly 118 balls. Northern's innings closed on 268-3.

In the second innings Longridge’s batters were put to the sword by Northern's attack being dismissed for 112 in 28 overs. The damage was done early on, Longridge were soon 1 for 1, 10 for 3 and then 30 for 5,  Chris Laker and Tom Sephton each took 3 wickets.

This is the second time that Northern have won the LCF KO Cup, they previously beat Bamford Fieldhouse in a bowl out in 2013.

To loud acclaim, the Man of the Match was Liam Grey.
