CORONAVIRUS

A Statement from the Management Committee

In response to the understandable and growing number of queries from Clubs about the position of the Liverpool Competition in light of the Coronavirus situation we set out our current position.

We are monitoring the situation closely and following Government advice and like everyone else recognise that this is a very serious situation. We are conscious of the marked escalation of measures, particularly in Sports, in the last 24 hours and particularly take note of the Medical and Scientific information which is that the peak of the outbreak is likely to occur between 10 to 14 weeks’ time, i.e. 23 May to 20 June. We are also mindful of many clubs obligations to contracted overseas players.

We understand that advice and guidance from the ECB is due shortly and we are taking part in a teleconference with other ECB Premier Leagues next week.

Realistically, our “soft signal” to clubs at the current time is that we find it difficult to foresee the season starting as scheduled.

Sent to all Club Chairs, Secretaries and Captains whom we will keep fully informed.
