APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR 2025/26 NEW ZEALAND BURSARY

Year 3 of the Chris Weston Bursary

The L&DCC Management Committee are pleased to continue with the commitment to the development of young cricketers, with a substantial opportunity for a young player to travel to coach and play at University Grange CC, New Zealand in 2025/26 between October and March.

The bursary, now in the third year and named after former League Secretary Chris Weston, after his 26 years excellent service, includes return airfare, visa costs and accommodation provided by the University Grange Club. This follows on from the successful experiences of previous Bursary winners Luke Russell ( Colwyn Bay) and Nathan Ashford ( Spring View)

Requirements

  • An amateur player (this excludes Lancashire Academy players)
  • Aged between 18 and 25
  • Registered to and playing for a L&DCC Senior Affiliated Club 
  • Essential to have an up-to-date  ECB Coaching Qualification 
  • Eligible for an appropriate New Zealand entry visa that will permit paid work
  • In possession of a current DBS or Police Clearance Certificate before travelling.
  • A full driving licence would also be an advantage

Note: the Club has increased the age range from previous years and has now specifically asked for a coaching qualification.

Selection will be made jointly by the University Grange Club and the L&DCC.
