KENNY WINTER A TRIBUTE
Date: 17th June 2025
Former President and Captain at New Brighton and and League stalwart.
New Brighton Cricket Club President, Kenny Winter, very sadly passed away on 30th May following a difficult battle with cancer.
Kenny joined New Brighton in 1977 as a junior before playing in the third, second and first teams. He also played for Wallasey for 4 seasons in the 1990s before returning to New Brighton.
Kenny served as a very successful New Brighton captain in the third team for six seasons and also captained the second team. He was an accurate medium quick bowler for many years and took many wickets, particularly in the second and third teams. He also became a very useful batsmen.
He has served on many club committees and has been the club’s Welfare and Safeguarding Officer for many years.
Kenny was a gas fitter by trade and has done many jobs in the club andI in later years he became a very accomplished crown green bowler and a good golfer.
Kenny was a magnificent servant to New Brighton and Wallasey Cricket Clubs and was a thoroughly nice man who left us far too soon. He was just 61 years old. Our thoughts go to his family.
New Brighton CC
The League also pays tribute to Kenny, a founder member, in 2010, of the hugely important and often forgotten group of Assistant Result Secretaries who check all the Divisional Play Cricket results every week. These folk are the true unsung heroes of our League.
A tremendous worker and supporter of the Liverpool Competition, Kenny has been active throughout his illness, and we will all miss him.
